Industrial Gas Power Generator
Gas engine generator set for industrial power supply, operating on natural gas, biogas, or process gas to deliver electrical power for continuous duty, peak shaving, or standby service at industrial facilities.
Product Introduction
The Industrial Gas Power Generator is a gas engine generator set configured for industrial power supply applications, in which a spark-ignition gas engine drives an alternator to produce electrical power using natural gas, biogas, or process gas as fuel. The set consists of the gas engine, alternator, control panel, cooling system, gas train, and base frame, assembled as an integrated unit for installation inside a plant or at a designated outdoor location. Depending on the configuration, the set operates in continuous duty for base load supply, in parallel with the local grid for peak shaving, or in standby mode for backup power. Engine speed is set at 1500 rpm for 50 Hz output or 1800 rpm for 60 Hz output, with electrical output ranging from 100 kW to 4,000 kW depending on the model and fuel composition. The control panel manages engine start and stop, gas supply regulation, alternator excitation, synchronization with the grid or other generation units, and protection functions, with operating parameters displayed on the HMI. The set is applied at industrial facilities where on-site gas is available or where grid power reliability and energy cost management are priorities, including manufacturing plants, food and beverage processing facilities, chemical and petrochemical sites, and wastewater treatment plants.
Core Advantages for Industrial Operations
Reduced Energy Cost per Unit Produced
On-site gas power generation reduces purchased electricity consumption where gas is available at the site. For facilities operating under time-of-use tariffs or demand charges, the generator set can be dispatched to reduce peak load and lower the monthly demand charge component of the electricity bill.
Power Supply Continuity for Critical Loads
The set operates in parallel with the grid or in island mode to supply critical industrial loads during grid outages or voltage disturbances. Automatic start and transfer functions, together with synchronization capability, allow the generator set to maintain supply for process equipment that cannot tolerate interruption.
Multi-Fuel Configuration
The engine is configured for the specific gas source at the site, including natural gas, biogas, landfill gas, coal mine gas, or process gas from industrial operations. Air-fuel control and gas treatment are configured to match the fuel composition, allowing the set to operate on gas that would otherwise be flared or vented.
Continuous Duty and Load Following
The engine and alternator are rated for continuous duty operation with availability targets up to 98 percent of planned operating hours when maintained according to application guidelines. Load following capability allows the set to adjust output in response to changes in facility electrical demand.
Grid Parallel and Island Mode Operation
The control panel supports synchronization and load sharing with the local grid, allowing the set to operate in parallel for peak shaving or to transition to island mode during grid outages. Protection coordination with the local grid operator is configured during the project specification phase.
Facility SCADA and Monitoring Integration
The control panel supports communication with facility SCADA and energy management systems, allowing operating data including electrical output, fuel consumption, and efficiency to be integrated into facility-level monitoring and reporting. Remote monitoring interfaces allow supervision from a central control room.
