Biogas Generator Set
Gas engine generator set operating on biogas produced from anaerobic digestion, landfill, or agricultural waste, configured with gas treatment, engine, alternator, and control panel for continuous power and heat recovery.
Product Introduction
The Biogas Generator Set is a power generation unit in which a spark-ignition gas engine drives an alternator to produce electrical power, using biogas as fuel. Biogas is typically produced from anaerobic digestion of organic waste, landfill decomposition, or agricultural residues, with methane content ranging from 50 to 70 percent depending on the source. The set includes a gas treatment train for desulfurization, moisture removal, and pressure regulation, followed by the gas engine, alternator, cooling system, and control panel, assembled as an integrated unit. Engine speed is set at 1500 rpm for 50 Hz output or 1800 rpm for 60 Hz output, with capacity ranging from 20 kW to 1500 kW depending on the model. The control panel manages engine start and stop, gas supply regulation, alternator excitation, synchronization, and protection functions. The set is applied in facilities where biogas is available on site and can be used to offset purchased electricity or supply heat through engine heat recovery.
Core Advantages
Biogas Utilization
Converts biogas produced on site into electrical power, reducing the volume of gas flared or released and lowering purchased electricity consumption.
Gas Treatment Integration
Desulfurization, moisture removal, and pressure regulation are integrated into the gas train, conditioning raw biogas before it reaches the engine.
Continuous Duty Operation
The gas engine and alternator are configured for continuous operation where biogas supply is stable, supporting base load power supply.
Heat Recovery Option
Engine jacket water and exhaust heat can be recovered through heat exchangers for hot water or steam supply, increasing overall energy utilization.
Parallel Operation Support
Multiple sets can be connected in parallel for load sharing, and the control system supports synchronization with an existing power grid or other generation units.
Emission Reduction
Combustion of biogas in a controlled engine reduces methane release compared with direct venting, supporting facilities operating under emission limits.
